Just a short walk from Whyalla City Plaza, Jessop-White Park is a peaceful place to stop, relax and explore a little of Whyalla's history.
The park features sheltered picnic areas, BBQ facilities, accessible toilets and parking suitable for motorhomes and caravans, located adjacent to the park across from the Darling Terrace Gallery.
Named in honour of Kay Jessop, a Girl Guide leader, and Doug White, a Whyalla Citizen Band leader, the park is home to two restored historic buildings – the Girl Guide Hall and the Whyalla Band Hall. A paved pathway lined with plane trees connects the former Guide Hall with the historic BHP Pay Office.
Visitors can also see one of the first water catchment tanks used during the early days of Whyalla's settlement.
Developed through a collaboration between Whyalla Council and OneSteel, the landscaped park was officially opened in July 2010 and provides a welcoming space to enjoy Whyalla's heritage and amenities.
