Eyre Peninsula Success at South Australian Tourism Awards

Congratulations to the Eyre Peninsula tourism operators on their success at the 2014 SA Tourism Awards.  Eyre Peninsula operators and organisations were finalists in ten of the thirty one categories, a great result for our region.

Winners of their respective categories on the night were
Adventure Bay Charters – Major Tourist Attraction 
After winning their category three years in a row, Adventure Bay Charters has now entered the 'Hall of Fame' - what an incredible achievement! 

Port Lincoln YHA – Backpacker Accommodation
One of three national and state awards won by the Port Lincoln YHA in a week, great recognition for this high quality product.

Ron Forster – Outstanding Contribution by an Individual 
Ron is well known in our region, he is a successful entrepreneur who has spent the last three decades creating tourism ventures that have been instrumental in promoting the Eyre Peninsula and in particular Port Lincoln.   While he is best known for his business Calypso Star Charters, Ron’s varied skill set has seen him successfully establish a diverse range of businesses from developing three islands, opening an animal park, creating swim with the tuna, sea lions and shark cage diving experiences, buying a marina, building a hotel and much more.  We thank Ron for his commitment to the development of tourism in the Eyre Peninsula region over the many years.

Award winners will represent South Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards when Adelaide hosts the prestigious national event in April 2015. Good luck!

The SA Tourism Awards are run by the SA Tourism Industry Council (SATIC) which strives to raise the standards of the industry. They are judged in accordance with a strict set of rules and criteria, and are the pinnacle of excellence within the tourism industry, rewarding innovation and fostering better business practices by setting benchmarks for all tourism operators to aspire to.
